Painting: Dance: Design Profs Joe Bilello + Rebecca Pappas
Can you dance a painting? Students from CAP and Dance work together to turn 11 paintings from Ball State’s David Owsley Museum into 3-d environments and choreographed pieces to be performed at the Muncie Makes Laboratory on Walnut Street 6:00-7:30 pm.
The Woven Ideal: The Wapahani Series, Lisa Dunaway
The five pieces in this collection were created in honor of the White River, or Wapahani in the Miami language. The branches that anchor each piece came from Sycamore trees along the White River in Muncie in a public park. I went to the White River to gather materials for this collection because I wanted a connection to the Wapahani. I purposely used the personality of the branches to allow for asymmetrical and irregular knot work, to mimic the ebb and flow of the river.
