Habitat Hike for Young Explorers
June 7, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Bring your young explorer to Red-tail Nature Preserve on Tues, June 7 at 10am for a guided hike great for young explorers. We’ll look for wildflowers, bugs, birds, and other prairie wildlife. Kids will get a free nature journal to record their observations, feelings, and drawings.* Families are encouraged to bring their own binoculars, magnifying glasses, or other observation tools.
Red-tail Nature Preserve is a beautiful tallgrass prairie located near Prairie Creek Reservoir. The 1/2 mile gravel loop trail is wide enough for off-road strollers.
No registration is necessary for this free event. Just show up ready to have a great time!
Red-tail Nature Preserve does not have restroom or water facilities. Please bring enough water to stay hydrated and be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat. There is a plaza at this preserve that is perfect for a picnic lunch after the event ends at 11am.
Nature Play Days Week, June 4-12, is sponsored by the Indiana Children and Nature Network. The goal is to help kids discover opportunities to play in the great outdoors.
