Join Archivist Susan Smith in discovering the artistic method used to teach penmanship in the 19th century at Tea & Talk at Minnetrista: Elegantly Written.
Explore distinctive examples from the Heritage Collection that illustrate the lost art of handwritten correspondence on August 10 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
“Handwriting is a window into one’s personality, their mood, and their identity,” said Archivist Susan Smith.” “The style of writing narrates the story of a person. From a historical perspective, if handwriting is not taught in the future, we stand to lose a large portion of our history—which is handwritten—because no one will be able to read it.”
Tea & Talk at Minnetrista: Elegantly Written takes place on Wednesday, August 10 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $15, and member discounts do apply.
