On April 25, 1976, Margaret Ball Petty and her son, Edmund, presented the bronze statue, “The Passing of the Buffalo,” to the city of Muncie as a memorial to husband and father Fred J. Petty. This is the story of how the statue got from the hands of renowned sculptor Cyrus Dallin to its current location at the roundabout on South Walnut Street.
