Town of Albany July 4th Celebration
June 30, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
We will be celebrating July 4th on Saturday June 30th with activities throughout the day and fireworks at dusk. Some of the events that we are planning on are listed below.
We will start the day off with a free will offering breakfast at the Albany United Methodist Church to benefit the A Better Life: Brianna’s Hope chapter that meets at the church. Breakfast will be served from 8 – 10am on Broadway next to the church.
State Street will be closed from Mississinewa to Delaware from 10am – 6pm. We will have cars and vendors all along State Street from noon until 6pm.
Twisted Wrenches will again be hosting a car show. Cars will need to enter at Mississinewa and check in. They will be given instructions on where to park at that time. We would love to see your car in the show!
The side streets will be open so you will still be able to move about town. The businesses along State Street will be open for you to patronize.
The Fire Department will be having a hog roast starting at 11am at the fire station.
The police will once again be on hand to sell raffle tickets for two different rifles that will be drawn at the Halloween parade as well as providing finger printing.
Emergency services vehicles will be set up in front of the Municipal building and along the bridge. I heard there may be cotton candy available!!
If you or your organization would like to have booth space, please call the Fire Department office at 765-789-6390 and leave a message.
Some of the booths already signed up are Girl Scouts-Crafts & face painting and possible a pie throw, Delta Theta Tau-Bake Sale, American Legion-Corn Hole games, Tri Kappa-Lemon Shake Ups, Albany Christmas-TBD, and Lions Club-TBD.
We have increased the fireworks budget this year to provide an awesome fireworks display at the end of the day. We are once again asking for donations to help cover part of the cost of the fireworks. Donations may be made at the Municipal Office. Our goal is to raise $5,000 as we have in the last few years. Check out the running total of how much has been raised by clicking the following link:
The best vantage point to watch the fireworks is at the ball diamond. The concession stand at the baseball diamond will be open as well as the Dairy Dream, Pete’s Bar & Grill and the Village Pantry.
Remember to bring your lawn chair and bug spray!
