Travis Abels – Movie trailer editor to speak at Ball State

Travis Abels, a 2006 Ball State University graduate from the Department of Journalism and the School of Art, is one of the leading film editors behind trailers that the public sees to advertise movies and TV series. His credits include “La La Land,” “I, Tonya” and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” as well as HBO’s “Westworld” TV series.
The title of his presentation will be “Movie Trailer Mastermind: Throw Away Process and Just Play.”
As a creative advertising professional, artist, editor and storyteller, Abels splits his time between Portland, Oregon; Los Angeles; and New York City.
The Ball State Department of Journalism and the Ball State student chapter of the American Advertising Federation are the sponsors of the presentation, which is in celebration of the Department of Journalism’s 50th anniversary and the university’s 100th anniversary.
