Zachary Vanderburg, tenor

Tenor Zachary Vanderburg has been heralded as singing “with vocal luster, dramatic fire, and lyrical sympathy” –Augsburger Allgemeine. In January, Zachary made his Orchestra Hall (Chicago) debut to great acclaim as the tenor soloist in the North American premiere of Jacob TV’s Mountaintop with the Chicago Sinfonietta. Other feats this season included role debuts of Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème and Leander in Nielsen’s Maskarade, a performance in the 10th annual PianoForte Foundation’s Schubertiade, performances with the Chicago Opera Theater in Verdi’s Giovanna d’Arco, performances of David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize winning Little Matchgirl Passion at the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago, and a recital with harpist and collaborator, Jennifer Ruggieri, which featured North American premieres of works by Jacob TV and Alec Roth.
Zachary holds degrees from Wingate University and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. He has been a Young Artist with the Chicago Opera Theater and a regional artist with Opera Carolina. He is a student of American tenors Nicholas Phan and Allan Glassman.
