Completed in 2014, The Wheeler-Thanhauser Collection and Species Bank of orchids is housed within The Dr. Joe and Alice Rinard Orchid Greenhouse. Its purpose is:

  • To conserve rare and endangered species of orchids
  • To disseminate them for conservation
  • To use the collection for research and education

The greenhouse is open to the public Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for self-guided tours, or by appointment.

Located in Christy Woods, the greenhouse is on the southwest end of the Ball State University campus.
