Ball State’s choral ensembles present two concerts in celebration of the winter holidays featuring well-known seasonal favorites and holiday music from a wide variety of traditions. Ensembles include the Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, University Singers, Statesmen, Women’s Chorus, and University Choral Union. Arts Alive! – Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra

After performing on the inaugural Arts Alive! Concert Series in 1996, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra returns to Ball State for its first performance in Sursa Hall. Led by conductor Marc Albrecht, the program will include Ravel’s gentle Le Tombeau de Couperin; one of Britten’s most full-blooded and exciting song cycles, Les Illuminations (featuring the “impressive, fast rising soprano” Julia Bullock); and Berlioz’s epic Symphonie fantastique as it explores the passions and hopelessness of unrequited love. Sursa American Organ Competition Winner with the MSO

Ball State University will host the third Sursa American Organ Competition in September, 2019. The first prize winner of the Pre-Professional Division will be awarded a solo appearance with the MSO. They will perform on the Goulding & Wood organ in Sursa Performance Hall. Elgar dedicated Enigma Variations “to my friends pictured within”, each variation being a musical sketch of his close acquaintances.
